December is upon us, and with it, frankly not as much snow as I was expecting! I’m based in Toronto with family until the new year, where the city is bustling and the sidewalks are grey - they will be white soon apparently, though this northerner is not quite convinced. My brother did introduce me to his favourite skating rink the other day, which just so happens to be a few blocks from the apartment. He also made it quite clear that my hockey skills need work, so I think we'll be spending a lot of time there over the next few weeks!
November was a whirlwind month, in the best way possible. I started out teaching at the Reiner’s Fiddle Hell weekend, and then headed home to Timmins to play a sold out CD Release show with Colin Cotter & Allison deGroot. Colin and I then embarked on our first Ontario tour, and we played in some great venues between Timmins & Toronto over the course of a week. A huge thanks to everyone who helped organize our shows, to friends who put us up and provided hours of wonderful tunes & laughs, and to everyone who came out - it really does take a village!
Some more exciting news, I was incredibly honoured to win Instrumental Solo Artist of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in Edmonton, AB. It was a huge and wonderful surprise - thanks to all who supported the CD.
SPEAKING of CDs, it just so happens that CD's fit perfectly in stockings ... ;) If you were looking to gift some music this season, CDBaby is offering 1¢ shipping through the holiday season - you can find the album here.
I am also offering a December fiddle lesson special - for every bundle of four lessons, the fifth is free. Email me for details!
